Duquesne Light reported that today's new snow and wind, combined with deteriorating road conditions, are hampering power line repairs and pushing back estimates for a system restoration. As of 4:15 p.m., there were 1,500 Duquesne Light customers remaining without power.
Projections are that customers in the North Hills and eastern Allegheny County will be restored by tonight. Customers in the city of Pittsburgh and the South Hills should see restoration by Thursday night. But now the company projects that western Allegheny County and Beaver county won't be retored until Friday night.
Power has been restored to about 55,000 customers whose electricity had been knocked out since the weekend's storm.
Company spokesman Joseph Vallarian said work crews since Saturday have received 3,000 reports of downed wires, 970 fallen trees or tree limbs, and 160 broken or damaged poles.
Allegheny County's emergency center also reported that 2,741 customers of Allegheny Power in the county remain without service.
