Pittsburgh Public Schools will be closed Wednesday as the district continues digging out from the weekend snow storm and braces for more snow in coming days, district spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said this afternoon.
In the wake of the weekend storm, several school buildings remain without power, school parking lots are only about 50 percent cleared and roads remain unsafe for buses, Ms. Pugh said.
All extra-curricular and school-related activites scheduled for Wednesday have been canceled, she said.
A number of other districts also are announcing Wednesday closures, including Upper St. Clair, Central Greene,Clairton, Gateway, Belle Vernon Area and Ringgold.
California Area School District will be closed for the remainder of the week.
