The death over the weekend of a Kingdom Manor personal care home resident in Canonsburg has been ruled accidental, the Washington County coroner's office said.
The victim, Wayne E. Murphy, 60, was pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m. where he had been found, at the bottom of outside stairs behind Mount Olive Baptist Church on Greenside Avenue. Coroner S. Timothy Warco said Mr. Murphy died of hypothermia.
The church is across the street from the personal care home, which the state has ordered closed.
The 23-bed Kingdom Manor already was slated to close after its provisional license was revoked in January by the state Department of Public Welfare.
The department said the nine remaining residents there are being relocated.
Mr. Murphy had been reported missing at about noon Saturday. He had last been seen alive at about 9 a.m.
A member of Mt. Olive found the body Sunday evening, police said.
