Man convicted of double killing in Donora
Friday, February 05, 2010

A Washington County man will serve the rest of his life in prison after being convicted today of two counts of first-degree murder for beating to death a friend and another person above a bar in Donora.

Eugene Joseph Nagy, 30, of Donora, was accused of using a two-by-four to beat his friend, Vince W. Trotta, 47, and Yvonne M. Helton, 40, on Sept. 11, 2007, after a long night of partying and sex.

County District Attorney Steven Toprani said Mr. Nagy has not been sentenced yet, though he will face a mandatory life term for each conviction. Prosecutors withdrew their request to seek the death penalty several weeks ago.
