After 40 years of serving young children, Point Park Children's School will close by June 2011, with its kindergarten program ending this June.
Point Park University spokeswoman Mary Ellen Solomon said the decision was made as the "university concentrates on our mission and our strategic plan, which are both focused on undergraduate and graduate education."
She said the space used by the Children's School in Thayer Hall, Downtown, will be used for academic purposes.
Point Park will name a transition coordinator to help families find new child-care providers. The Children's School cares for 89 children, from infants through kindergarten, according to Ms. Solomon.
The school's summer program for elementary children also has been canceled.
