Unfortunately for the Vikings, the rematch Thursday night provided the same result as the first.
Tara Gallupe scored 31 points, including the winning free throw with 26 seconds left, to lift Class AA No. 3 Avonworth to a 51-50 home win against No. 5 Sto-Rox in Section 6.
Gallupe made 11 of 15 free throws overall and added 14 rebounds for the Antelopes (17-1, 9-0).
The Vikings (15-4, 9-2) lost despite making 13 3-pointers, including four each by Natalya Smarra, Kori Ford and Kacy Capozzoli.
Celena Meighan's free throw with one second left allowed Kiski Area (13-6, 8-3) to escape with a 46-45 win at Hempfield (12-6, 7-3) in Class AAAA Section 1. Maddie Antone scored 12 points to lead Kiski Area. Hannah Falcsik tallied 18 points for the Spartans, who had won eight of their previous nine games.
Class AAAA No. 4 Baldwin (15-4, 9-3) won its fifth in a row by defeating visiting Upper St. Clair (8-11, 6-6), 54-39, in Class AAAA Section 4. Baldwin star Belma Nurkic was held to 10 points, but the Highlanders also got double-digit scoring efforts from Laura Sayssol (13) and Taylor Wentzel (11).
Ellwood City's 49-43 triumph against visiting Center (4-13, 1-7) in Class AAA Section 2 ended the Wolverines' 91-game section losing streak. Asia Borders scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Wolverines (9-10, 1-7), who had not won a section game since 2002.
Hannah Novotny hit a 3-pointer in the closing seconds to give host Knoch (6-11, 3-7) a 38-35 win against Highlands (12-8, 6-4) in Class AAA Section 1. Novotny finished with a game-high 12 points.
Alex Coyne and Paige Aleski scored 10 points apiece to pace Class AAA No. 4 Chartiers Valley (15-4) to its 14th consecutive win, a 50-25 drubbing of host Hampton (13-6) in non-section play.
Kayla Cook's 27 points pushed Class AA No. 1 Jeannette (18-1, 12-0) to its 16th win in a row, 58-46, at Section 4 foe Riverview (9-8, 6-6).
Paige Alviani made five 3-pointers among her 30 points and helped Class AAA No. 1 Hopewell (19-0, 8-0) to a 79-48 rout of visiting Ambridge (8-8, 3-5) in Section 2.
