Submit your Pitt basketball question

Thanks for participating in the Pitt basketball Q&A.

Keep the questions rolling in and I will answer them every day throughout the season and March Madness.

You can follow the Panthers daily here as well as on my new Pitt basketball blog on PG-Plus. Membership in that site is only $3.99 per month or $36 per year.

One other thing -- my weekly live Pitt basketball chats will take place Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m..

Q: Against West Virginia, Brad Wanamaker and Gilbert Brown get zero points. Gary McGhee can't hit the side of a barn ... with a layup. Nasir Robinson has a hard time making a free throw, yet he decides it would be a good idea to shoot a 3-pointer? I could go on and on but here are two questions for you. Now that Pitt has hit rock bottom, do you think its time for Jamie Dixon to try something drastically different such as rotating McGhee and J.J. Richardson at center and inserting Dante Taylor at power forward? Also, how can Dixon go into this season without a true Big East point guard (Sorry, but Ashton Gibbs is not a point guard, nor is Travon Woddall). Your thoughts?

Mike, Crafton

FITTIPALDO: I don't think all of Taylor's problems are about his comfort level at center. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he is not strong enough to contribute yet. Opponents get easy position against him on the low blocks. He gets outfought for rebounds and he is not strong enough to get good position and get off a decent shot on offense. I'm not sure how much any of that changes if he switches to a different position. As long as he continues to struggle, I would expect Richardson to get more minutes. As for the point guard situation, it looks like the coaching staff made a recruiting mistake with Woodall. It happens. They got caught this season. The hope is that Isian Epps, who will be an incoming freshman next season, is good enough to come in and play right away. For the time being the Panthers are going to have to get it done with Gibbs at the point. There is not another option at this point. He is going to have to work through his slump while playing point guard.
