Washington County projects get $9.7 million from casino
Thursday, February 04, 2010

Washington County commissioners today unanimously approved more than $9.7 million in local projects to be funded through proceeds from The Meadows Racetrack and Casino.

The projects, including economic, municipal and infrastructure development initiatives, now will be forwarded to the state Department of Community and Economic Development for final approval.

The county receives a share of gross terminal revenue from the casino every year to fund such projects.

Funding highlights include $3 million over three years for a joint project between the Washington, Monongahela and Canonsburg hospitals for an electronic medical records system and $1.5 million for a sewer project in Donora.
