Q: Do you think J.J. Richardson deserves more playing time? I do. He can catch a pass get a rebound without fumbling and score some points. He is also quicker off the hedge to get back into defensive position.

Allen Jones, Appollo

FITTIPALDO: I think you might see Richardson get more opportunities. He came in and gave the Panthers some good minutes against West Virginia. He scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds in 14 minutes. That is the kind of production they have been missing from backup center Dante Taylor, who has been held without a point for four consecutive games. Coach Jamie Dixon said after the game that Richardson has been playing well in practice and he felt he deserved an opportunity to play. Dixon showed no hesitation to insert Richardson when Taylor was playing poor defense early in the game. Richardson gave the team a spark so I suspect Dixon will turn to him again against Seton Hall. It's a delicate situation with Taylor. You don't want to demoralize him completely by playing Richardson before him, but at the same time Dixon has to do what's best for the team. Right now, that might be giving Richardson more minutes at his expense.
