A Jefferson County woman died early today in a two-vehicle crash in Clarion County, state police said.

Stephanie Mongelli, 21, of Brookville, had been driving north on Route 28 in Redbank at 12:23 a.m. today when her Chevy Malibu drifted into the southbound lane.

Her car crashed head on with a tractor-trailer truck headed south on the roadway.

The truck driver, Jose Mejia, 28, of Oyster Bay, N.Y., suffered minor injuries, and his passenger, Yesenia Valasque, 23, also of Oyster Bay, was not injured, police said.

Ms. Mongelli was pronounced dead at the scene by Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer.

Police and emergency crews closed Route 28 for about three hours while the wreckage was cleared and troopers began the investigation of the crash.
