North Side man gets jail time for assaulting principal
Thursday, February 04, 2010

A North Side man was sentenced to prison Tuesday for assaulting the principal at Pittsburgh Morrow K-5 school last year.

Taru Davis Sr., 41, pleaded guilty in November to one count of aggravated assault.

He had gone to the school on Feb. 16 to pick up his son early. Instead of following the school' s protocol, Mr. Davis wandered from room to room to find the boy.

When Principal Annette Scott Piper confronted the man, he punched her in the head. He also punched another female employee who tried to come to the principal's aid.

Allegheny County Judge Jeffrey A. Manning sentenced Mr. Davis to 18 to 36 months in prison.
