RESTAURANT NEWS

• The Red Room Cafe and adjoining bar 2RED, East Liberty, have closed.

• Bruschetta's on East Carson Street, which closed last August, has become Villa Southside, a nightclub and bar with a tapas menu; www.villasouthside.com, 412-431-3535.

• The Western Chapter of the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association has named The Carlton's Kevin Joyce its Restaurateur of the Year. He was honored Tuesday for his "professional, operational and community achievements on behalf of the restaurant industry" at a gala celebration at The Priory's Grand Hall on the North Side.

FOOD AND WINE EVENTS

• River Moon Cafe, Lawrenceville, is offering a special menu for Mardi Gras Feb. 16 (Fat Tuesday). The three-course menu includes a choice of soup, an entree and a dessert for $24.99 per person. Special dishes include Cajun fish filet and banana fosters pie; www.rivermooncafe.com, 412-683-4004.

• The Priory, North Side, continues its wine-tasting series Feb. 18 with an event featuring Russ Ouston, winner of the first season of "The Winemakers" on PBS. Mr. Ouston will present the wine he made for the show, as well as three other wines. The event will also include "Top Chef"-style games and competitions; www.thepriory.com, 412-231-3338.
