Preparing to shed some light on Easter
Thursday, February 04, 2010

Glass workers from Kelly Art Glass, in Millvale, remove three stained glass windows from Sacred Heart Church in Shadyside. From left are Daneal Hansel, David Fockler and Leslie Allen.

The windows, which contain more than 100 pieces of glass per square foot, will be fully releaded, restored and reinstalled in time for Easter, glass artisan John Kelly said.

The more than 5,000 square feet of stained glass in the church was designed and created between 1930 and 1954 by famed artist George Sotter and his wife, Alice.
