Crash forced CCAC South to cancel classes until noon
Wednesday, February 03, 2010

Classes and other activities were canceled until about noon today at Community College of Allegheny County's South Campus in West Mifflin because of a traffic accident.

The crash, between a passenger car and a Port Authority bus, was reported just after 8 a.m. today on the campus entry driveway, police said.

The driveway exits onto Route 885 in West Mifflin, where traffic temporarily was restricted because of the accident.

Injuries were reported, and patients were transported by helicopter to hospitals.

Police from the county and the Port Authority are investigating the cause of the accident.

The borough fire department participated with police at the scene in the rescue of the injured and those trapped for a time in the motor vehicle.

The names and conditions of the injured were not immediately available.

A campus spokeswoman said the wreckage had been cleared and normal operations resumed around noon.
