The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania is calling for submissions to its 46th Golden Quill Awards, the annual competition that recognizes professional excellence in written, photographic, broadcast and online journalism in Western Pennsylvania. The entry deadline is Friday. All entries must have been published or broadcast between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2009, to be eligible.

Rules and instructions for the awards, open to all news professionals in 29 counties of Western Pennsylvania, can be downloaded from The Press Club's Web site at www.westernpapressclub.org or by calling The Press Club at 412-281-7778.

Contracts

Landau Building Co. was awarded a contract from Reproductive Health Specialists for additions and alterations to 419 Rodi Road, Pittsburgh. Work includes new exterior finishes, renovation of building interiors, site modifications and various additions. L. Robert Kimball and Associates is the architect.

Elisco Advertising began working with MethodOne on a national campaign. MethodOne is a web-based clinic management software suite that covers key areas such as clinical, financial, dispensing, medical and counseling.

WTW Architects is working with George Mason University to bring a Regional Electronic Gaming Center to its Fairfax, Va., campus as part of its expansion of the Student Union Buildings One and Two.

Elliott Co. landed a contract to provide all 17 compressor trains for the new Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Co. export refinery in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The project, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Total S.A., is the centerpiece of Saudi Arabia's plan to expand refinery capacity.

SG&D Communications & Design has launched a new website for Pittsburgh Mailing, www.pittsburghmailing.com.

Awards/Honors

Charles M. Lavert, Jr., senior manager, business valuation and litigation support services team, Carbis Walker LLP, completed the certification process with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts to earn his designation of Certified Forensic Financial Analyst.

Dr. Srinivas Murali, director, Allegheny General Hospital Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, and medical director, Gerald McGinnis Cardiovascular Institute, was awarded the Distinguished Physician Award from the American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin.

David Nolfi, health sciences librarian at Duquesne University's Gumberg Library, achieved the highest level of membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals, Distinguished Member. The organization is the Medical Library Association's peer-reviewed professional development and career recognition program.

Tina Mazurik earned her Certified Purchasing Manager certification through the Institute for Supply Management.
