In the wake of a fight that broke out during a basketball game Friday, Monessen High School has moved Wednesday's boys' basketball game against Belle Vernon to the afternoon. Game time will be 4 p.m. and the game will be open to fans. The game was originally scheduled for 7:30.
"This is what our lead administrators wanted to do," said Monessen athletic director John Sacco. "But we're only changing this game and that's all. Everything else for the boys and girls will be on as normal the rest of the season."
Monessen also has two home girl-boy doubleheaders remaining this season (Feb. 9 and Feb. 13). The Feb. 9 doubleheader will be played at night and the Feb. 13 doubleheader will be in the afternoon, as originally scheduled.
A fight broke out in the hallway outside Monessen's gym during a game with Washington High Friday.
