Q: I was watching Kentucky-South Carolina, and I saw Darnell Dodson miss a crucial layup. Is this the same Darnell Dodson who was at Pitt a few years ago, but then left the team? It sure looks like Pitt could use him now to spell Gibbs.
Mike Iskoe, Upper St. Clair
FITTIPALDO: Yes, that is the same Darnell Dodson. He had to leave Pitt because of an issue with the NCAA Clearinghouse. He was forced to go to junior college for two years. He has not allowed to return to Pitt, or enroll at any other Big East school, because of a conference rule that states a player cannot re-enroll at a Big East school after leaving for a junior college. Former Pitt assistant Orlando Antigua is an assistant under John Calipari with the Wildcats, so Dodson did land with someone who had recruited him.
