Q: If not the for the comeback against Louisville this team would be on a three-game losing streak. Is it time to panic or can coach Jamie Dixon made the adjustments to get things going back in the right direction?
Tom, Erie
FITTIPALDO: I certainly do not think it is time to panic, but there is reason for concern. The defense has been leaky and has not been good enough to win games when the offense is struggling. And the offense really struggled against Seton Hall. Jermaine Dixon mentioned after the Seton Hall game that the team needs to play better defense to get out of this funk. Jamie Dixon said he is going to investigate whether playing his reserves more might help. There is some soul-searching going on this week for sure. However, Pitt will be favored to win its next two games against St. John's and South Florida. If the Panthers can take those two games they will be 7-2 at the midway point of the Big East schedule. If that happens they'll be in great shape for what will surely be a difficult stretch in the second half of the season with two games against West Virginia and one against Villanova, not to mention road games at Marquette and Notre Dame.
