About 50 protesters marched to the Oakland home of University of Pittsburgh Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg this afternoon in hopes of persuading him to help keep UPMC Braddock open.

Braddock councilwoman Tina Doose led the group, which chanted "UPMC makes Pitt look bad," from the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard to Mr. Nordenberg's home on Devonshire Street, where she delivered a letter asking for the chancellor's support.

University police, including Chief Tim Delaney, greeted the marchers at the residence and an officer accepted the letter. The protesters were told that Mr. Nordenberg was traveling.

The marchers then filed back to the Cathedral of Learning on the Pitt campus.

UPMC and the university are legally separate entities.
