Beaver County carjacking, police chase ends in crash
Thursday, January 07, 2010

Three juveniles assaulted and carjacked an Ambridge man last night, then led police on a chase through Beaver County before crashing into several police cars, Ambridge police said.

James Dziedzic, 67, was warming up his car outside of the Polish Falcons Club on Eighth Street when he was approached by a young man and asked for the time and a ride. The juvenile then punched Mr. Dziedzic, dragged him out of the car and punched him again before stealing his 1993 Cadillac, according to Ambridge Officer Brian M. Jameson.

A Midland police officer who had heard about the carjacking saw the car around 11:15 and pursued it. The driver led police on a chase onto Route 68 through Beaver, across the bridge into Rochester and into New Brighton, where the stolen car was stopped after it crashed into a number of police vehicles. Three male juveniles were taken into custody.

The first juvenile was charged with robbery of a motor vehicle, simple assault, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy, police said. Charges for the other two boys are pending investigation. Police did not release the names of the three juveniles.
