Question: Ed, with Ben Roethlisberger's record year, why is he overlooked in the Pro Bowl again?
-- John R. Rulli, Connellsville, Pa.
BOUCHETTE: A record passing year in Pittsburgh is not like other places. Ben Roethlisberger had the best season of any Steelers quarterback statistically in franchise history. Yet, his 4,108 yards passing ranked only fifth in the AFC and his 98.9 passer rating ranked fourth. They only select three quarterbacks for each Pro Bowl team and it's hard to argue with the three that were selected: Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers and Tom Brady. There remains a decent chance that Roethlisberger will play in the Pro Bowl because the quarterback of the Super Bowl team will not play and one of those three is likely to bow out for that reason.
