A man convicted of rape in Allegheny County in 1991 was pronounced dead yesterday after he was found hanging in his cell at State Correctional Institution Huntingdon.
Thomas Kelley, 41, had been at the prison since June 1992 and was serving a sentence of 10 to 20 years.
State police and Department of Corrections officials are investigating Mr. Kelley's death. According to a press release, Mr. Kelley's body was discovered at a cell in the prison's restricted housing unit about 11 a.m. yesterday.
The Huntingdon County coroner's office will determine a cause of death.
