Pitt defeated DePaul, 65-52, in the Big East opener at the Petersen Events Center.
Ashton Gibbs led the Panthers (11-2, 1-0) with 23 points. Jermaine Dixon added 12 points.
It was Pitt's 30th consecutive victory at the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers have the nation's second-longest home winning streak behind Kansas.
Pitt shot 56.7 percent from the field (17 for 30) in the first half and jumped out to a 39-25 lead at the intermission. Pitt's offense bogged down in the second half and DePaul (7-6, 0-1) was able to cut the lead to five with 5:41 remaining, but the Panthers scored the next six points to seal the victory.
