Two people died today in a two-car accident on Route 56 in Westmoreland County, police said.
At about 4:45 p.m., two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collided on the two-lane highway in St. Clair, near Seward. Two people died, and two other people were taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. Their conditions were unknown.
It is unclear what caused the accident, police said. Route 56 has been shut down to traffic.
