Chamber board members named

Sean Henderson, of Kelly Services, has been elected chairman of the board of directors and executive committee of the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce.

The remaining board of directors and executive committee members are Glenn Lytle, of Comcast, first vice chairman; Bernadette Puzzuole, of Rothman Gordon, P.C., second vice chairman; John Daley, of Lincoln Financial Advisors, vice chairman; Ronald Pasic, of Gateway Bank, treasurer; Neal Fanelli, Allegheny Medical Occupational & Physical Medicine Center, immediate past chairman; Sally Haas, president/secretary.

Casey Mahaven is membership services and special events coordinator, and Meghan Lindner is educational services and membership representative and office manager.

Geneva College founding member of national network

Geneva College has become a Founding Member of the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education, a nationwide effort to expand and extend the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation on campuses.

NetVUE is a new initiative of the Council of Independent Colleges, a national association of more than 600 independent, liberal arts colleges and universities.

Through national and regional conferences, the development and exchange of resources, and participation in online networking, NetVUE will help institutions enhance vocational exploration by their students.

The network's goals are to share knowledge, best practices and reflection on experiences among campuses.

Beaver County traffic restrictions

Traffic will be restricted this week by state Department of Transportation crews on these Beaver County roads:

• Anchortown Road, Brighton - Crack sealing between Old Blackhawk and Brady's Run roads.

• Brodhead Road, Aliquippa and Hopewell - Patching between Chapel Road and the Allegheny County line.

• Frankfort Road, Raccoon - Drainage repairs between Upper Service and Bocktown roads. Ridge Road Extension, Economy - Patching between Merriman and Mason roads.

• Interstate 376 (Beaver Valley Expressway), Hopewell - Crack sealing between the Aliquippa interchange and the Allegheny County border.

• Legionville Road, Harmony - Patching between Duss Avenue and Ridge Road.

• Ridge Road Extension, Economy and New Sewickley - Shoulder grading between Merriman and Freedom Crider roads.

Kelso Road lane closures

Lane closures and alternating use traffic patterns will begin Tuesday on Kelso Road in North Fayette near the interchange with Route 22.

A single-lane closure also will occur on westbound Route 22 in the interchange area.

Restrictions will be in place between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays through Dec. 31. No weekend or holiday work will occur.

Geotechnical engineering crews will be conducting subsurface exploration for a future project to replace the bridge that carries Kelso Road over Route 22.

Flag crews will control traffic. Motorists should use caution, slow down and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area.

School groups collect donations

Moon Area Middle School's eighth-grade class raised a record $5,221.97 for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh's Free Care Fund during the building's eighth annual Penny Wars event.

Student representatives presented a donation Friday during the KDKA/Children's Hospital Free Care Friends Telethon on KDKA-TV.

A total of 258 eighth-graders, who were divided into three teams, deposited change into large plastic containers Dec. 7-11 in each eighth-grade room. Pennies added to each team's total and silver coins subtracted from their final sum.

The Dragon team contributed $2,569.64. The All-Stars team raised $1,436.48 and the Yellow Jackets team finished with $1,215.85.

• The Wilson Elementary School student council in Findlay collected $2,100 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through fundraisers such as Hat Day, Crazy Mixed-up Day, Bubble Gum Day, Pajama Day and Favorite Color Day.

Students from Wilson in the West Allegheny School District traveled to Monroeville Mall Tuesday to present the check.

Meanwhile, student council members from McKee Elementary School in North Fayette traveled to the Mall at Robinson last Thursday to make a $2,500 check presentation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

They raised the money by sponsoring events such as Steelers Hat Day, Pajamas & Slippers Day, Gum Day, Backwards and Crazy Hair Day, and a "candy cane gram" sale.

Also, Donaldson Elementary students collected $2,400.
