Rob Heatherington and Serra couldn't get their revenge on Tom Droney and Sewickley Academy.

In a rematch of last season's WPIAL Class A championship game, Davidson University recruit Droney had 28 points and Tyler Palmer 23 to lead the host Panthers to a 68-61 non-section win last night.

Heatherington had 22 points for the Eagles (4-1), who are ranked No. 2 in WPIAL Class A by the Post-Gazette.

Sewickley Academy (4-0) is ranked No. 1.

? In a matchup of two teams that advanced deep into the Class AAA postseason last year, Jake Matthews' 32 points led host Greensburg Salem (3-1) to a 65-57 win against Highlands (2-4). Mike Trenski had 30 points for the Golden Rams in the non-section contest.

? Cam Johnson and Jalen Madison had 15 points each, and Josh Stepoli added 11 points and 18 rebounds to lead Monessen (2-1, 2-0) to a 71-54 Class AA Section 5 win against visiting Burgettstown (2-3, 1-1).

? Neil Gossett had a team-high 19 points -- including the go-ahead layup with 58 seconds to play -- to lead Avella (1-4, 1-1) to a 68-65 victory against Class A Section 2 foe Jefferson-Morgan (0-4, 0-2).

? Marcus Falls' 36 points led host Westinghouse (3-0, 2-0) to a 90-71 City League win against Brashear (0-5, 0-3).

? Duane Berry had 35 points and Ryan Lapelle 19 as Carlynton (4-1, 2-0) won a Class AA Section 3 game, 66-49, at Northgate (2-3, 0-1).

? Josh Valentic had 31 points as Trinity (3-2, 2-0) won a Class AAA Section 5 game at Thomas Jefferson (3-4, 0-1), 61-50.

? Brandon Johnson of Schenley (2-3, 1-3) had 26 points in a 73-70 win against visiting Carrick (2-4, 0-3) in a City League contest.

? Shakim Alonzo had 27 points and 19 rebounds to lead Woodland Hills (2-3, 1-1) to a 79-61 Class AAAA Section 2 win against visiting Fox Chapel (1-3, 0-2).

? T.J. McConnell had 28 points, 10 assists and 9 steals as Class AAA No. 2 Chartiers Valley won in a blowout at West Mifflin, 85-47. The Colts (5-0, 2-0) outscored the Titans (4-2, 1-1), 28-5, in the first quarter of the Section 4 contest.

? Every player on the Peters Township roster scored in the Indians' 93-44 win against visiting Ringgold (2-3, 1-1) in Class AAAA Section 4. Craig Wolcott had 17 points and no other player scored more than 11 for the Indians (3-2, 2-0).

? Mt. Lebanon finished in fifth place at the prestigious Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz. The Blue Devils (5-1) defeated Christ the King, N.Y., 58-40, last night. Madison Cable had 13 of her 15 points in the second quarter, which Mt. Lebanon entered trailing, 15-1, but outscored Christ the King, 25-6, during it.

? Abby Hetrick scored 32 points to lead Class AAA Highlands (4-1) to a 71-51 victory against visiting Class A St. Joseph (1-4).
