The Penguins got good news and bad news today.
Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was named the No. 2 star for the previous week by the NHL. At the other end of the spectrum, coach Dan Bylsma announced that defenseman Mark Eaton will sit out tonight's game against New Jersey at Mellon Arena because of an injury.
Bylsma did not elaborate on the nature of Eaton's problem but said the defenseman is being evaluated today by doctors and, pending the findings there, is not expected to be out on a long-term basis. Eaton did not participate in the morning skate
Eaton left in the second period of the Penguins' 2-1 shootout win at Buffalo Saturday night after he and the Sabres' Mike Grier got tangled and slid into the end boards.
Fleury, who is expected to start tonight, was 3-0 for the week, including two shootout wins, to improve to 21-8-1 this season. Two of the wins came against rival Philadelphia in consecutive games. He allowed four goals over the three games.
He ranks second in the NHL in wins, one behind Martin Brodeur of New Jersey, and ninth with a 2.31 goals-against average.
One thing Fleury doesn't have this season is a shutout.
