Monday, December 21, 2009

A 4-year-old girl died and seven people were injured in a two-car crash on a snowy road in Venango County yesterday

A vehicle driven by Cindy L. Schill, 51, of Tionesta was heading north on state Route 417 in Oakland Township when it went out of control shortly before 11 p.m., according to state police. It traveled into the oncoming lane and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Roxanne D. Black, 24, of Chicora, then continued off the edge of the road into a field.

A 4-year-old passenger in Ms. Schill's vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by Venango County Chief Deputy Coroner Trevor Hile; her identity was not released. An 8-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, in that vehicle, also not identified, were injured, as was passenger Angel M. Stephens, 30, of Tionesta.

Ms. Black and her two passengers, Heather A. Black, 29, of East Hickory and Margaret E. Hall, 45, of East Hickory, were all injured as well.

The patients were taken to UPMC Northwest, Children's Hospital and Hamot Medical Center.
