The PGA Tour and Southpointe Golf Club have scheduled a news conference for tomorrow to announce that the Nationwide Tour will return to Western Pennsylvania in 2010 after an 18-year absence.
The Post-Gazette reported last month that Southpointe, an Arthur Hills-designed course in Cecil, will play host to a Nationwide Tour event on or near Labor Day weekend next September.
It will be the first time the tour will play in the Pittsburgh area since the Hogan tour was staged at Quicksilver Golf Club in 1992.
The return of the Nationwide Tour will give Western Pennsylvania two professional tournaments next summer. The other is the U.S. Women's Open scheduled for July 8-11 at Oakmont Country Club.
