Woman sentenced in bus-stop killing

A Baldwin Borough woman yesterday was sentenced to 12 to 24 years in prison for shooting her boyfriend during an argument Downtown after watching the city's Fourth of July fireworks.

Ciara Roberts, 20, had pleaded guilty to killing Chondale Terry near a bus stop at Fifth Avenue and Wood Street.

Ms. Roberts told police that Mr. Terry repeatedly called her profane names as they approached the bus stop. At the time, Ms. Roberts had been carrying Mr. Terry's semiautomatic pistol in her purse.

Police said she loaded the weapon as they walked, and she admitted that she shot him in the chest.

Ms. Roberts was sentenced by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Joe Williams. She will initially be held at State Correctional Institution Muncy.
