People: Still more Tiger tales
Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Tiger Woods may be taking a break from golf, but his wife may be taking a break from something else entirely, Eonline.com reports.

Elin Nordegren, the embattled star's 29-year-old wife, was spotted Saturday pumping gas (and looking fabulous, we might add) in Florida near her home. It's the first sighting caught on camera since the sex scandal broke. But looking hot and feeding her SUV aren't what was noteworthy about this moment.

Elin wasn't wearing her wedding ring.

The Swedish beauty almost always wears the sparkler in public. Needless to say, this could be - but certainly may not be - proof that the end to their marriage is nigh.

Team Tiger got a special visit this weekend...from the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that its deputies accompanied representatives from the state's family services agency to a drop-in Saturday on the home shared by Woods, wife Elin Nordegren and their two young children.

"Deputies assisted the DCF staff member with gaining access to the community," the sheriff's Public Information Office says. "The Orange County Sheriff's Office did not write a report nor did it initiate a criminal investigation as a result of this assist call."

For its part, the state DCF was mum on the reason behind the call or the outcome.

"Florida law requires that all concerns reported to the Florida Department of Children and Families regarding the safety of a child or a vulnerable adult are confidential," FDCF spokeswoman Carrie Hoeppner tells E! News.

"The department fully explores reported abuse concerns and may respond through a well-being check or a protective investigation. The goal, always, is to ensure that children and vulnerable adults are safe, that their caregivers are providing appropriate care and that they are living in a healthy environment."

A former state prosecutor with experience in such matters tells E! News that it is common for child services to meet with a family whenever domestic violence is alleged - even when charges are not filed, as is the case with Woods and Nordegren.

Cori Rist, one of the other alleged other women in Tiger Woods' life, appeared on the "Today" show yesterday to defend herself from tabloid reports and express deep regret for what she claims was a 2-and-a-half year fling with the embattled golfer.

"It was just very comfortable," the 31-year-old single mom said of her first encounter with Woods, at an NYC nightclub in 2006. "He was not afraid to show his affection in front of everybody that was there." After that, "he led me by the hand, and we just kind of disappeared, and that was the start."

Their relationship involved meeting up in hotels, where Woods would book adjoining rooms. A source told the Daily News, "Tiger would typically get a large suite at a hotel. Someone would book Cori an adjacent room, so she wouldn't be seen coming into his room."

Rist knew Woods was not available, but claims he told her his marriage to wife Elin Nordegren was in bad shape.

Rist believed she was Woods' only mistress, but soon she picked up signs he was cheating with others. She recalls finding him texting someone in the middle of the night, and believes he was talking to another woman.

She said the relationship ended in September after she declined his offers to meet up in places like Australia and Dubai. "We had an argument over how I don't make enough time for him, and that was it."

Rachel Uchitel has been getting numerous death threats, sources tell TMZ.

Uchitel - the woman whose alleged affair ignited the Tiger Woods scandal - has been getting cell phone calls from people threatening to kill her. A number of people got her cell phone number by looking at a 2001 photo making the rounds with an old cell phone number displayed - a number that referred callers to her current cell phone.

We're told several callers have threatened to hunt Uchitel down in New York and get her.

People have also made threats on her Facebook page, which she has now shut down.

Courtney Love no longer has legal control of her daughter.

TMZ has learned a legal guardian has been appointed to care for 17-year-old Frances Bean Cobain.

Guardianships of this nature are frequently established when the parent is not capable of taking care of their children.

The guardians appointed by the court are Wendy O'Connor, Kurt Cobain's mom, and Kimberly Dawn Cobain, Kurt's sister.

The guardianship was established Friday. Courtney Love was not in court.

The guardianship is for both Frances Bean personally and her financial well-being. The guardians do not have power over the trust established after Kurt Cobain's death. The guardianship was established after a fairly long period of unstable conduct by Courtney Love. The court proceedings, however, are sealed.

Kourtney Kardashian welcomed her first child with boyfriend Scott Disick early yesterday morning, E! News and Life & Style jointly report.

"Kourtney just delivered a healthy baby boy about an hour ago," her publicist said yesterday morning.

Mason Dash Disick (yes, the middle name is the same as the family's boutique) arrived at an L.A.-area hospital, tipping the scales at 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and measuring 19.5 inches.

"A boy is definitely needed in this family!" Kourtney told E! News in October. "Scott and I are thrilled to add a little boy to the bunch."

But the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star has always had a lot of women in her life who love her - the same ones who showered her with baby gifts last month at Kris and Bruce Jenner's house in Calabasas.

Kourtney was "due any minute!" sisters Kim and Khloe reported to Ryan Seacrest last Thursday.

Grizzwald Chapman, known to most as Tracy Morgan's massive and endearing sidekick on NBC's '30 Rock,' is in dire need of a kidney transplant, the actor revealed during a taping of "The Dr. Oz Show." Chapman, 35, says he suffers from severe hypertension, which requires him to receive dialysis three times a week.

He tells 'Oz' (via New York Daily News) that he's on the waiting list for a kidney, but his size is holding him back. He also reveals that he ignored his high blood pressure for years, refusing to take medication - and now he has just 5 percent of his normal kidney function.

With his massive frame - 6'11" and 378 pounds - Chapman must drop at least 75 pounds before being considered for the surgery.

The actor hooked up with the famous doctor at a kidney benefit last October, and Oz promised to help Chapman - as long as he used his disease for good by showing the risks to others.

To make good on his promise, Oz has assigned a group of medical experts to help Chapman drop the weight and stay healthy.

The History Channel is planning its first scripted series and will base it on the Kennedys.

The cable network says the eight-hour series is called "The Kennedys" and will be told in a multigenerational manner akin to "The Godfather." The network says the series will depict a manipulative, egocentric father living out his ambitions through his sons.

The personal drama of the clan will be included in the saga as well as the era's major events. Some of those include the Bay of Pigs, the Cuban missile crisis and the civil rights struggle.

No casting has been announced for the series. It is scheduled to air in 2011.
