Where: Hunt Armory, 324 Emerson St., for tomorrow's Handmade Arcade.
How far: 20 minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh
How much: Free admission, although 150 early bird passes costing $15 a piece will be issued to start shopping at 10 a.m., an hour before it officially opens to the public.
Why: The Hunt Armory, built in 1916, served the Pennsylvania National Guard during both world wars and continues as the regiment's home. The 56,000-square-foot venue -- which stretches a city block and once offered the largest auditorium in the city -- has also hosted political speeches, concerts, religious revivals, theater productions and the Shriner's Circus. Tomorrow it's home to the Handmade Arcade, which runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event was created to give independent crafters an opportunity to promote their wares. It includes recycled materials, organic products, innovative jewelry, hand-bound books, spun yarns, fashions, one-of-a-kind gifts, etc. The event drew more than 8,000 people last year. Fun factor: 7, for unique shopping and a bit of history.
