Drive-by donations are being accepted tonight for the family of Upper St. Clair youth football coach Daniel William Hentosz, who died of a heart attack late last month.
Mr. Hentosz's family, including his youngest daughter, Angelina, 4, who suffers from dangerous seizures, have been left without health insurance. Last year, Angelina was the focus of a widely publicized effort to raise $5,000 for a specially trained dog, Gigi, who alerts family members before she has a seizure.
Cash and check donations for the "Hentosz Children's Fund" are also needed for living expenses and to help pay for therapeutic services for Mr. Hentosz's four children, who continue to have nightmares, said his wife Brenda Hentosz.
The couple's 11-year-old son was in the car with Mr. Hentosz when he died along Interstate 79 near Waynesburg on the way to the Pitt-West Virginia football game in Morgantown on Nov. 27.
The fund raiser, sponsored by the Upper St. Clair Youth Football Association, is being held tonight from 7:30 to 9:30 in the parking lot of Aurelia's Restaurant at 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. in Bridgeville, near the intersection with Lesnett Road.
Motorists will be able to drive in a continuous stream through the parking lot to make donations without having to leave their vehicles or turn around.
