Monroeville man charged in assault on 13-year-old
Thursday, December 03, 2009

A Monroeville man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl he met on MySpace.com, according to Allegheny County police.

Alex Martin Pimpinella, 21, allegedly raped the girl in the basement of his parents' home on Blueberry Road in September, police Lt. Jeffrey Korczyk said. He was arrested at the home yesterday, and police seized his computer.

Mr. Pimpinella and the girl, who lives in Green Tree, arranged to meet on Sept. 29 after connecting through MySpace, the popular social-networking Web site. The girl's page on the site identified her age as 13.

County police are investigating whether Mr. Pimpinella had been involved with other sexual assaults. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Mr. Pimpinella has been charged with endangering the welfare of children, criminal use of communication, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, criminal solicitation, indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of minors.

He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail on $25,000 straight bond. He is awaiting an examination by the jail's behavior clinic.
