Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne Bridges, Downtown -- Intermittent short-term lane closures in various locations on the bridges and Parkway East from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday during lighting repairs. Work staged to avoid delaying Pitt football traffic.
Interstate 79, Neville -- Inspection activities on bridge over Ohio River to cause lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Monday through Dec. 29. No weekend or holiday restrictions.
Parkway North -- Single-lane traffic inbound from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday between the McAlear Overpass and Camp Horne Road (Exit 8) during shoulder improvements.
UPDATES from Tuesday, Dec. 1
Special note: Age threshold for PennDOT ID cards lowered to 10 -- PennDOT photo identification cards available to Pennsylvania residents ages 10 and older under law that took effect this week.
To obtain a photo ID, applicant must complete Form DL-54A, Application for Initial Photo Identification Card, available on the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Web site, www.dmv.state.pa.us, under the Driver License/Photo ID Information Center. Applicant must take completed form, along with required identity documents and a fee of $12, to a PennDOT Driver License Center to obtain the ID. Required documents are listed on Form DL-54A. Those under 18 must have parent or guardian with them.
Cliff Mine Road, Findlay -- Lane closures possible at intersection with Park West Drive and Aten Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday during traffic signal improvements.
Freeport Road, Harrison -- Lane closures Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at intersections with Springhill Road and Princeton Avenue for traffic signal improvements.
Parkway East -- One lane closed outbound from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday in area of bridge that carries Jefferson Heights Road over the parkway between Penn Hills and Plum interchanges.
Overnight single-lane closures possible through Friday night in both directions from Squirrel Hill Tunnel to approximately 1.5 miles west during work on overheight detection system for tunnels.
Route 28, Etna, Sharpsburg -- Single-lane closures possible northbound from Etna interchange to Highland Park Bridge 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday during inlet work.
Restricted to one lane northbound at new bridge over Route 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays only Thursday through Monday for benchmark inspection customary for new bridges. Some restrictions also possible on North Main Street and Bridge Street beneath northbound Route 28.
Route 910, Harmar, Indiana Township -- Closed westbound from the southbound Route 28 off-ramp to Locust Hill Road from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday, the final weekend closure this year.
Allegheny County
Blythedale Road, Elizabeth Township -- Reduced to alternating single-lane traffic because of collapse of the northbound lane between Shaler Street and Fallen Timber Road.
Business Route 22, Churchill -- Restricted to one lane near the inbound Parkway East ramp through 5 a.m. Monday.
Cochrans Mill Road, Jefferson Hills -- Closed between Stilley Road and West Bruceton Road until Feb. 1 for bridge replacement. Detour posted.
Dorrington Road, Collier -- Bridge closed over Robinson Run between Cluxton Street and Noblestown Road around the clock through April 2010. Road open to local traffic only.
Graham Road, Pine -- Closed between Pearce Mill Road and English Road until summer 2012 during replacement of a Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge.
Jefferson Heights Road, Penn Hills -- Bridge over Parkway East closed through end of year for rehabilitation. Detour posted.
Liberty Tunnels -- Inbound tunnel closed for major rehabilitation Sundays through Thursdays from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through late August 2010.
Light Rail Transit -- Gateway Center closed through 2011.
Old State Road, Pine -- Closed between Whippoorwill Hill Road and Fox Hollow Lane for replacement of a Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge through mid-summer 2012. Detour posted.
Patton Street, Wilmerding -- Intermittent single-lane closures possible 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Wednesday at Fifth and Middle avenues during traffic signal work.
Rankin Bridge -- Single-lane traffic continues in each direction through October. Sidewalk on main span closed for reconstruction. Port Authority has free-ride zone between Rankin and Whitaker for pedestrians for the duration of construction.
Route 28, North Side, Millvale -- Intermittent lane closures in both directions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Monday between Chestnut Street and Evergreen Road as crews install posts for traffic cameras and other Intelligent Transportation System components in advance of major reconstruction project.
Route 88, Castle Shannon -- Work to begin Tuesday on $4.7 million project that includes milling and paving, realignment, widening, drainage, guide rail, shoulders, signing and pavement markings, signals, retaining walls, and other improvements on 1.15 miles from Castle Shannon Boulevard to Sixth/Killarney streets. Lane closures and alternating single-lane traffic patterns to occur weeknights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late February. Minor daylight restrictions also possible.
Route 130, Wilkins -- Washout repair and drainage improvements to cause alternating single-lane traffic near Briaridge Drive from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday.
Tri-Boro Expressway -- Expressway/Braddock Avenue closed in both directions from O'Connell Boulevard to Cable Avenue for bridge replacement. Also, East Pittsburgh-McKeesport Boulevard closed from Elder Street to the Tri-Boro Expressway. Main Street under the bridge closed from Braddock Avenue to Bessemer Avenue, all until late this year.
West End Bridge -- Lane and sidewalk closures possible from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays starting Tuesday through Dec. 29 during inspection.
Armstrong County
Route 422, East Franklin -- Long-term lane closures planned through September 2010 during rehabilitation of two bridges over Route 28.
Butler County
Hartmann Road/Harmony Junction Bridge, Jackson -- Closed for reconstruction expected to continue until June 2010. Detour via Routes 68 and 19 and Little Creek and Seneca School roads.
Indiana County
Smicksburg Bridge, Smicksburg and West Mahoning -- Replacement project reduces Route 954 to one-way alternating traffic until May 2010.
Washington County
Charleroi-Monessen Bridge -- Closed after inspection revealed structural deficiencies.
Donora-Webster Bridge -- Closed until further notice.
Westmoreland County
Route 22, New Alexandria -- Traffic switched to westbound side with one lane open in each direction in work zones from Carter Road to Indiana County line.
Route 30, Hempfield/North Huntingdon -- Restricted to one lane in each direction between Arona Road and West Penn Drive/Possum Hollow Road during nighttime work.
