Girlfriend of man accused of killing puppy also charged
Friday, November 27, 2009

A Bridgeville woman whose pet pit bull puppy was kicked to death on Sunday has been arraigned on more counts than her boyfriend, who is charged with killing the pup.

Christine Gielarowski, 21, is free on her own recognizance, pending a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. Monday in Bridgeville.

It is the same time as the hearing scheduled for her boyfriend, William Woodson, 22, who was arrested Sunday on one count of animal cruelty.

Ms. Gielarowski is charged with one summary and one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.

She also is charged with obstructing the administration of law, hindering the apprehension of her boyfriend, providing false identification to police, and summary charges of failing to have the animal immunized and licensed.

Mr. Woodson, was arrested only after police contacted Ms. Gielarowski's parents, who provided the name.

Investigators said neighbors of the couple called police after they said they saw Mr. Woodson kicking the puppy, a small black pit bull wearing a gold ribbon.

The suspect reportedly said he was angry because the puppy had been misbehaving prior to the start of the broadcast of the Steelers game.

Mr. Woodson had left the scene when police arrived to recover the dog's body. Officers said Ms. Gielarowski had refused to give his name. She also identified herself with a false name, police said.

Mr. Woodson is being held in the Allegheny County Jail on $25,000 bail, the same as Ms. Gielarowski's bail.

It was not clear whether she had been released from the jail.
