Submit your Pitt football question

Thanks for participating in the Pitt football Q&A.

Keep the questions rolling in and I will answer them every day throughout the season and through whatever bowl game Pitt goes to and through signing day in February.

You can follow the Panthers daily here as well as our Pitt football blog.

You can also view my new daily video reports on Pitt football at PG-Plus. Membership in that site is only $3.99 per month or $36 per year.

One other thing -- my weekly live Pitt chats will take place Thursday at noon.

Q: Are there any Pitt players who will forgeo their last year of eligibility and leave early for the NFL? I am thinking specifically of Jason Pinkston, Jabaal Sheard and Greg Romeus. I think all three will play on Sundays, but I also think all three would benefit by another year in college. If they all return, Pitt will be that much stronger next year.

Frank Mindicino, Trooper, Pa.

ZEISE: I honestly think the only player who may even think about it is Greg Romeus, but he'd have to have a big finish to the year because right now from what I understand he is not hearing first round or even first day. He is not going to leave unless he is that and Pinkston and Sheard both would be far better off returning to school for their final year.

Q: Why does this team get complacent with a lead?

Bob Fitzmaurice, St. Pete Beach, Fla.

ZEISE: I don't think that it does. I think that sometimes the coaching staff gets conservative but this team plays hard. If nothing else, it plays hard for all 60 minutes. It doesn't always play well, but it certainly plays hard. Sometimes the other teams make plays, too and if you watch most games there are times when both teams get the momentum.

Q: Do you think that Pitt is rising to the top again because once again the great local talent is choosing to stay home and play for the Panthers?

Alonzo Burney Jr., Murrsyville

ZEISE: Um, no. For one thing, the best players in the WPIAL the past few years haven't come to Pitt and for another, there hasn't been as many great players coming out of this area as there once was. Pitt has some good local kids making big contributions-- Jonathan Baldwin, Dorin Dickerson, Lucas Nix, Bill Stull, John Malecki, Jason Pinkston, Mick Williams, Adam Gunn etc., etc., but the thing the Panthers have done well is recognize that they need to go elsewhere to find players because just signing local kids isn't enough to build a program any more, particularly when you aren't signing all of the top ones.
