Steelers sign Palko to practice squad
Wednesday, November 25, 2009

The Steelers finally signed quarterback Tyler Palko to their practice squad this afternoon after he cleared the 48-hour waivers required of the Canadian Football League.

Palko had been signed to a futures contract by the Montreal Alouettes, who agreed to release him.

A star at Pitt and West Allegheny High School, Palko spent four games on the roster of the New Orleans Saints as a rookie in 2007 and the remainder of that season on their practice squad. He did not play in 2008 and has not played this year since being released by the Arizona Cardinals before the regular season.

His first practice will be Thursday.

The Steelers released rookie defensive tackle Steve McClendon from their practice squad to make room for Palko.
