A man who died Saturday in a Lawrenceville house fire has been identified as Steven Cortez, 53.

Mr. Cortez's remains were found in the front of the house in a living room where the blaze is believed to have started and the fire was the heaviest.

Two other occupants of the house were not injured.

Firefighters said the blaze started in Mr. Cortez's residence in the 5200 block of Poe Way.

At least three other dwellings caught fire from the heat generated from the first blaze.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Mr. Cortez's cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, the Allegheny County medical examiner said.
