A Jefferson Hills man today waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges that he left the scene of a fatal accident in which a bicycle deliveryman was killed.
Timothy Kish, 51, is not charged with causing the Aug. 3 death of the bicyclist, Rui Hui Lin, 38, of Oakland, defense attorney Charles LoPresti said.
"He is really torn up about this," Mr. LoPresti said while waiting for his client's case to be called in Municipal Court this afternoon.
Mr. Kish remains free on $10,000 bond.
He surrendered two days after the accident, reported on Meyran Avenue at Louisa Street in Oakland.
After the collision, Mr. Kish got out of his pickup truck to check on the cyclist. He removed the bike from Mr. Lin as he lay bleeding on the street.
The driver then returned to his truck to move it from blocking traffic, and returned to the victim to apply a towel to his wounds.
When medics arrived, Mr. Kish told police, he again went to move his truck. However, he drove home and did not return to the scene, according to the complaint.
Mr. Kish left no contact information with police or paramedics before he left the scene.
Mr. Lin was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where he later died.
