Five years ago, Charlie Weis flat-out said a 6-5 record wasn't good enough for Notre Dame.
Notre Dame is 6-5, after another eviscerating home loss Saturday against Connecticut in double overtime. And the Fighting Irish head coach wasn't backing off his initial comments. And he wouldn't be surprised if that standard cost him his job.
"I still agree with that," Weis said yesterday. "If they decide to make a change, I'd have to say I'd have a tough time arguing with them. Because 6-5 isn't good enough.... My intent is to be here. But if that were the rationale, it'd be tough for me to argue with that point."
As for a resignation, though? "That's not happening," Weis said.
After further review, quarterback Jacory Harris putting on a postgame sling was merely for comic effect. He appeared for his postgame interview after a victory against Duke with his right (throwing) arm supported by a sling. He has a thumb injury on that hand, the exact severity of which has not been announced, and played against Duke with his hand wrapped in tape. But when Harris left the room, he ripped off the sling. Turns out, the quarterback was "getting some of you guys," Miami coach Randy Shannon said.
Roger Hughes was fired at Princeton after 10 seasons and a 47-52 mark.
