Authorities in Washington County are investigating the death of a man who had been shocked by a Taser during an altercation earlier this week with police in Washington.
Ronald Petruney, 49, of Washington, died at 6:58 a.m. yesterday in Washington Hospital, county Coroner S. Timothy Warco said. Mr. Petruney was in cardiac arrest when he was admitted to the hospital Tuesday, Mr. Warco said.
Washington police found Mr. Petruney "in a confused state" when they were summoned to an incident on Jefferson Avenue, Mr. Warco said. Mr. Petruney "became combative with police," and was shocked with the Taser, the coroner said.
An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
