Where to go ... Tom Ridge Environmental Center
Sunday, November 22, 2009

What to do: Hardly a summer-only facility, the environmental center on Presque Isle is mostly about the geography and wildlife of Presque Isle, but it's more than that, too. Free to enter, it's open year-round with interesting science exhibits and a 75-foot glass tower offering spectacular views of Lake Erie. The center's four-story, 45-feet-wide Big Green Screen features educational movies daily. Now showing, "Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs," "Hurricane on the Bayou" and "Mysteries of the Great Lakes." Check the Web site at www.dcnr.state.pa.us/trecpi for daily programming. TREC is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
