Saturday, November 21, 2009

Pittsburgh police made an arrest in the stabbing of a man on the South Side early yesterday morning.

At 2:40 a.m., police responded to a report of a man stabbed in the 1900 block of Wharton Street. They found a man who had been involved in a fight, later identified as Rayan Lambert, 25. He had been stabbed in the neck, possibly with a box cutter, police said.

Mr. Lambert was taken to UPMC Mercy, where he was in critical condition last night.

At 1:30 p.m., Shane Hennen turned himself in at police headquarters. Mr. Hennen, whose address was unknown, is charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

Police said Mr. Lambert and Mr. Hennen were involved in an altercation earlier after leaving the Diesel nightclub. The fight was broken up and both parties went their separate ways. A short time later the fight resumed in the 2100 block of Wharton Street and ended after Mr. Lambert was stabbed on the side of his neck and cut on his wrist.
