Thursday, November 19, 2009

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Hazelwood man who police say shot another man in West Mifflin during an argument over racial slurs late Tuesday.

The suspect, Larry Jordan, 21, and the victim, Nicholas Adamczyk, 29, of McKeesport, both are white.

West Mifflin police Lt. Theresa Savage said the argument started around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday when Mr. Adamczyk and his girlfriend, a 28-year-old black woman from McKeesport, overheard an argument between Mr. Jordan and his girlfriend, also a black woman, 24.

Mr. Adamczyk got out of his car and confronted Mr. Jordan, who police said pulled a .380-caliber pistol and shot the victim in the groin, Lt. Savage said.

The suspect had fled from the scene, leaving his girlfriend behind, by the time police and medics arrived.

Mr. Adamczyk was taken to UPMC Mercy where he underwent emergency surgery. He was in stable condition yesterday afternoon, police said.

Police recovered one shell casing that had been ejected from the semiautomatic pistol, Lt. Savage said.

Anyone with information on Mr. Jordan's whereabouts is asked to contact West Mifflin police at 412-461-3125.
