Two wanted on attempted homicide charges arrested in Berks County
Thursday, November 19, 2009

Police and federal agents in Berks County on Monday night arrested two people wanted on attempted homicide charges out of Westmoreland County, where state police said they robbed and stabbed a man over the weekend and stole his pickup.

Travis Pollock, 27, of Somerset, and Emily Smith, 21, of Reading, were taken into custody at a residence in Alsace Township.

Media reports indicated that an anonymous tip led authorities to the house. Mr. Pollock was sleeping in a van outside and Ms. Smith was inside the house.

They are accused of robbing Robert Biondo, 53, and stabbing him in the face, neck, chest, arms, wrists and hands.

He told troopers he was attacked between midnight and 12:47 a.m. Sunday on or near Ridge Road in Donegal. Both suspects had been in the truck with him before the attack, he said.

Mr. Pollock and Ms. Smith were being extradited to Westmoreland County yesterday.
