Sheryl Brown will have three minutes to nourish the lives of others.
Ms. Brown, of Hempfield, was the winner of a United Way Shop 'n Save shopping spree. It will begin about 8 this morning at the store on old Route 66 in Greensburg.
She will be given three minutes to gather items, which she will donate to the Welcome Home Shelter, a facility in Greensburg for homeless people.
A materials control clerk for Elliott Co. in Jeannette, Ms. Brown was selected from about 1,400 entrants who had made a donation to United Way.
Ms. Brown, who declined to give her age, will not be left holding an empty bag, though. Ray Charley, owner of two Greensburg Shop 'n Saves -- the other is on Pittsburgh Street -- was gratified by the donations and decided to give the winner a $250 gift certificate to the Route 66 store.
To accommodate publication of our large Thanksgiving edition, next week's East will be published on Wednesday.
