The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre gave its annual gala a decidedly modern twist on Oct. 24, moving it to the Pittsburgh Hilton and into a ballroom decorated to look like a giant Tiffany box. The pale aqua and white hues lent an ethereal touch to the elegant evening attended by 400, but the activities were grounded by two bars (open all night!) made from lighted panels of acrylic. Very cool! Meg and Robert Eberly III chaired the ball, which attracted many generous donors to the arts as well as a younger crowd for the after-party, afterpointe. The presence of the dancers -- some of whom performed several short selections before dinner -- added to the energy being generated on the dance floor by Gary Racan and the studio-e Band. Jim Roddey served as auctioneer (board chair Carolyn Byham and husband Bill donated their London apartment!), helping to raise a grand total of $300,000 by evening's end.
