Electrical fire destroys Rostraver nail salon
Friday, November 13, 2009

A nail salon was destroyed by fire Wednesday night at a Westmoreland County strip mall.

Quick responses by eight volunteer fire departments prevented the fire from spreading to other businesses in the strip mall, Tri County Plaza, in Rostraver.

A passer-by called 911 at 9:17 p.m., at about the same time that police were in the vicinity on another call, and an officer noticed smoke coming from New York Nails at 720 Tri County Lane, police Sgt. Kerry August said.

The shop was closed for the night, and no one was inside.

A state police fire marshal determined the cause was electrical.
