Thursday, November 12, 2009

About 40 elderly people had to be evacuated from a nursing home in Cranberry this morning after a fire, but no one was hurt.

The fire started just before 9 a.m. in a heating and air conditioning unit in the east wing of UPMC Cranberry Place and filled the facility with smoke.

Firefighters and staff evacuated everyone from the east wing and into the west wing. The residents later returned to the east wing.
